Save your money instead of giving it to the bank

I used to use ATMs and get charged $1.50 extra until I decided that it was crazy to pay the banks for nothing. These are sure steps for SAVING money.
1. Find a bank that has ATMs near your home, job, or school, etc.
I use Bank One. They have two ATMs stations nearby my home and another
station nearby my job.
2. Find a bank that does not charge you for having an account open. I have
never paid any fees for having my account open.
3. Make sure they give you so many free access to non-bank ATMs.
I get six per month.
4. Take advantage of the debit card (charge card) portion of the ATM card.
My bank uses VISA. There is no fee for using this. Another great thing
about this is on your bank statement it shows an itemized listing of
where you shopped and the amount. (GREAT FOR BUDGETING). It is harder to
budget with cash on hand. You need to keep all receipts. Sometimes
stores don't give receipts.
5. If you do need cash back when you shop and getting to your bank's ATM
station doesn't work, use the ATM portion of the card at the grocery,
pharmacy store, or gas station. This way you are still saving the extra
$1.50 from the non-bank's surcharge.
6. If you need emergency cash on a day you are not out grocery shopping,
still go to your pharmacy (Walgreens), etc. Buy something small as low
as $.10 and ask for cash back. $.10, $.25, etc. is a lot less than
$1.50. Plus you are buying something with substance, instead of paying
out to the bank.
7. If all else fails and you just need the cash and don't feel like
standing in line, go the non-bank's ATM and pay the $1.50. Hey, it's
your life.
8. LAST THING, sometimes you might find a credit union bank that doesn't
charge the extra fee.
