Pros: Relive history again and again; expands your mind; becomes a part of your life; quenches your thirst for strategy and competition Cons: Brings down GPAs; Gets People Fired; Makes Sleep Difficult
A lone naked light bulb casts long shadows in the stuffy, crowded room. Your nose has long grown accustomed to the lingering stench of sweat and smoke, and the whirring of a small fan breaks up the dead silence but does little to fight off the stifling...
Pros: Inexpensive, interesting, playable over the internet Cons: Limited game play
Axis and Allies is a strategy simulation game that allows you to fight World War II from the comfort of your computer chair. The game is from Hasbro Interactive and is a re-creation of Parker Brother's board game of the same name. That board game was an...
Pros: Easy set up Cons: The AI is a challenge for beginners
Over the years I have accumulated an ungodly number of computer games, some I don’t even know why. I am a big turn-based strategy game fan with Civilization 2 and the Master of Orion series being my favorites. With the lack of any real decent...
Pros: Faithful to the original board game, good inherent gameplay. Cons: Terrible AI, gameplay ruined by problems, bugs.
Background
I have been a heavy strategy gamer and tend to prefer the slow but sure type of game and have no qualms with micromanagement. I have played the original board game, though not as often as I would like.
Pros: Good idea, Gets you hooked early on, cinematics are nice Cons: Multi-player doesnt work like it should, rules need to be more open
When I heard that Axis & Allies would be a computer game, I thanked the gods for answering my calls. For years I had the boardgame(which is unbelievable) but none of my friends liked playing it. Finally, I thought, I could reach salvation.
Pros: can play alone, new rules Cons: slower, glitches and bugs
NOTE: This review is for those who have already played Axis and Allies in the board game. If you would like to read my review of the board game, use this URL:
Pros: quick play capabilities, multi-players, various selection of rules Cons: graphics aren't great
As a former player of Axis & Allies on the board game, I could hardly wait for the pc game to be released. The first tome I found the game I didn't have a computer that could handle the game. But now that I have a computer that can handle the game,...
Pros: Superb strategics Cons: AI is not the brightest
World War 2...
You start this game with the situation in world war 2 as it was in 1942. The Axis have much better equipment, but the Allies have more income, so they can produce more.
Pros: Easy to play, a lot of fun Cons: No challenge to play against the computer, Not very realistic, could be improved, some glitches in the CD
I used to play the Axis and Allies board game in high school back in the 1980's and absolutely loved it. Naturally, I was ecstatic when the game was released on CD Rom. The computer version has many advantages over the board game, but there are a few...
Pros: If you like it, it will be VERY Addictive. Recreates the feel and rules of the Board Game very well, Many opportunities for internet play Cons: If you like it, it will be VERY Addictive. Solo play mode is dreadful, game has many bugs, still not addressed.
Having first seen Axis and Allies in the Board Game format in 1983 while in the Army, and having enjoyed many nights when I was Charge of Quarters playing this game, when I saw the game available in the local computer store on CD I quickly shelled out...
Pros: Great strategy game Cons: Graphics aren't anything special
Axis & Allies was one of the best board games ever made. But it took hours to play. Not any more. The computer version makes gameplay much easier and faster, and you can save and stop whenever you want.
Yes, I selected "Loved It", mainly because I am an old gamer ( amongst other things ). And for those who have played the board version of this game, they may enjoy this product if they can not find someone else to play with.
Pros: Looks nice Cons: Bug bug bugs and no online play
Original title: puts the "riddle" in "bug riddled." Hasbro may have surpassed Sid Meier in the World's Buggiest Games category. I have never encountered so many bugs while playing a non Sid Meier or Microsoft game. The game is ...
