Apparently, kids don't cause school shootings, video games do. Wow, I had no idea. I better be careful: 15 years of playing all kinds of video games is going to catch up to me. Wait, I'm an adult. I know what is right and wrong. When I was younger, someone taught me what was right and what was wrong. When I was younger, I was disciplined.
Why are so many adults afraid to spank their kids? Or even to discipline them? Use to be that kids felt a urge to stand up to their parents or another adult, but now there's an insane turnaround. Adults are barely finding the courage to stand up to the teenagers! This is an atrocious way to improve a society. Shouldn't we mold our children? Shouldn't we offer advice to them? If they don't want to take it and they make a mistake, support them. Sometimes you have to run your household like a business manager. To make improvements you have to listen, accept new ideas, and support your team.
Kids and teenagers will whine and gripe--we did it when we were younger--but you have to stick by anything you said and any decision you made. So your 12 year old wanted to buy the recent release of Thrill Kill and because it has an "M" rating, you said no. Good for you! Now move forward and stand by that decision. And if they buy it anyway? Take the game away and the system and make them mow the lawn before he gets the system back.
It's funny how blame for any negative action in society always springs from someONE to someTHING. People need to be held responsible and accountable for what their children do, buy, and say.
If you don't know what your children do, buy, or say, then you don't know your children at all.
