If they'd upgrade their equipment to handle complex variables, they could do away with this icky self-intersection problem.

I had to go to the website before finishing the review! What a strange and clever invention! I've gotta find some excuse to bring one into my life...

Yikes! Did I forget to include my usual "limitation of liability" clause in this review? Quick! Edit it in before the lawyers get here!
Glad you enjoyed it. (And particularly glad you didn't try to do the fourth-dimension maneuver -- we need you here in 3 dimensions writing epinions!)

I dunno (Reply to this comment)

. . . but it sounds like anyone who would like the Klein bottle might just occasionally peek at some of those sexy pictures in the math journals (instead of sticking strictly to the articles).
Wonderfully accessible explanation of how to make (and appreciate) a Mobius strip. Being a bit of a cheapskate, I tried to follow your suggestions for making my own Klein bottle out of a plastic 2-liter Coke container. I dislocated my elbow and will be forwarding the bill to you.
Great title; nifty product; excellent review.

Thanks, platypus! (For some reason, I never got notified of this comment, so I'm just seeing it now.) I like your moniker -- my 6 month old son has a stuffed platypus that he likes a lot (though everyone always thinks it's a duck.) Glad to have been of service!

Re: Posting in the proper place (Reply to this comment)

I did think that the original category was not bad (and better than the suggested Site_Reviews), but when I saw this category, I realized it was definitely better than my original choice. The combination of someone objecting and my finding a category that *I* had to agree was better just tilted the balance in favor of moving it.
Thanks for the comment - and while we're here, I must tell you that I've enjoyed your reviews a lot too!

This is a superlative review. I agree that it's more appropriately placed in this category (which I also never knew existed...), and am delighted to have stumbled upon it--and you!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go click "Trust theeye's opinions."

Posting in the proper place (Reply to this comment)
by Lobstergirl
My posting tip: if it takes you more than 4 minutes to figure out where to post something, you're wasting your time. Just post where it seems logical to you and let the chips fly where they may. For God's sake, the thought of reposting is too horrible to linger on.
It's one thing to post a review of a Ford Explorer in Diaper Genies, or a review of Dorm Life under Saving for Education, but some other categories are hazy and many others just nonexistent.

reposting comments from original epinion (Reply to this comment)

(I originally wrote this epinion under the Techies->Five Gifts category and moved it after receiving some feedback in the comment section. I saved the original comments before deleting the original opinion and am reposting them here for continuity's sake.)

Hi,
I reread your review, and even read others in the same category, and I still have to leave my rating. If you
want to leave this in the 'Five Gifts' category, then you might want to add four more gifts, as all the other
reviews in this category which I read have done. However, your interesting comments about
www.kleinbottle.com are what made me think of a site review in the first place.
I hope you're not angry, as I do like your writing.(And, for that matter, the picture of your little ketzele!)
However, I am a notorious grump when it comes to rating things, and sticking to topic within your
chosen category.
Anyway, I'll have another bowl of soup and think about this some more. I'll come back, too, as soon as
you write more.
Hope you had an easy fast.
Cindy

And, I'm happy to say, a nice bonus test of geekiness. I guess I'm not as geeky as all that since I made it
all the way to the end of your epinion before rushing to www.kleinbottle.com. Thank you kindly, -Naomi

Thanks, Naomi! Actually, you scored reasonably high on the geek test - you read my review! At this
point, that makes you unique. :-(
Oh, well - I pick the subjects for my own interest, not to win a popularity contest.
Enjoy the Klein bottle web site - and the bottle, if you get one!

A geek? Perhaps. A math geek? No way..., by maillion (Fri Oct 6, 7:44 am PST)
but I know what a Klein bottle is, and toroids, and a few other topological stuff. Forget the math, if you
get much past long division, I'm lost. (My eyes glaze over at the mere mention of Calculus. All I know
about that is that the name means "little stones" or something similar.) Great review. I didn't know it was
possible to create one of these things in normspace...

Check out the Klein bottle web site for *lots* more info on Klein bottles (serious and not so serious).
Thanks for the comment!

Don't shoot the messenger!, by hadassahchana (Fri Oct 6, 1:34 pm PST)
Hi, I had to NR this review because it's in the wrong category. This category is 'Five Gifts', but you wrote
an absolutely brilliant site review.
In my opinion, you should delete this and repost it in site reviews. You will probably get a lot more hits
in that category, as well as getting grumpy old demagogues like me to stop whining, too.
Having said that, this was wonderful! I really enjoy your writing, and I want you to email me if you do
decide to repost this in the appropriate category. I'd love to give this an HR.
Regards,
Cindy

Cindy -
Thanks for explaining your rating (I admit to being somewhat shocked when I saw it). I've given your
explanation a lot of thought and the bottom line is, while I understand your point, I have to respectfully
disagree.
I am familiar with the "Site Reviews" category; in fact, I've written a couple of reviews there. But, in this
case, I was not reviewing the site, per se (though I did discuss it tangentially). This review was about the
product -- and, more particularly, about the product as a gift idea for techies. That's the specific category
I posted in -- it's not gift ideas in general, but gift ideas specifically for techies. My concept for this review
was to present an unusual and, in my case, tremendously successful gift idea for the mathematically
inclined. As for hits, I doubt that this review will get many hits whereever it's posted -- this is not one for
the masses (I wrote this one just for me -- and for dear hubby :-)
If I've convinced you that I'm right, I'd appreciate your rerating. But if not, I certainly won't hold it against
you -- I'm not so thin-skinned that I can't handle an obviously sincere difference of opinion. And if there's a
groundswell of agreement with your assessment, I'm certainly open to reconsidering.
Anyone else want to chime in with their vote?
(Oh, and thanks for the very nice -- and undeserved -- comment on my writing style <blush>)
