Bag -vs- Canister

A few years ago, I bought a Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner. It was an upright that had the bag you put in the top and attached to the hole in the upper part of the vacuum. This was to be a learning experience for me. First of all, the difficulty of learning the proper method to attach these bags is bad enough, but the real trick was taking them out when they were full.
It was a nightmare. In order to get the full bag out, you have to pull it from the top. It ALWAYS tore, leaving me with a face full of dust and a floor full of dirt. I have since learned my lesson and have switched to a canister type that does not have those messy bags. It is a dream and I would not go back to that other mess for all the bags in the world.
