It has been my experience that if you buy an extended warranty you won't need it. It has also worked the other way me that when I didn't buy it I should have. In general though most major appliances come with a warranty that should suffice. If you are buying a quality product then the manufactor usually offers a free warranty for a length of time. If you decide that you want to spend the extra money make sure you do your homework. If your appliance needs repair will the warranty cover it all or is there a co-pay. Will it cover all repairs or only defects. In the past many have bought the extra coverage only to have the product die the day after the coverage ended!
