WHY Barely specs on Freezer/Frig cubic ratio's?

Jul 24 '00

desperately seeking 18 cu. fridg with CLOSE TO a ratio of 7-11 Freeze to Fridge space. (Top mount, NO icemaker). Yet many reviewers don't even provide that BASIC info. - i.e. how many cubic feet of freezer space is there, relative to fridge space? Such info. is provided erratically, at best, dependent on whether the manufacturer's site provides it - which they often don't - or whether the reviewer provides that info. on a whim!

Also, WHY doesn't Epinions offer a "Why Don't They" discussions forum, wherein people can vent to each other about features they need on appliances, or anything else, but which their royal-highness manufacturers don't deign to provide?

I'd like a platform from which people can holler at fridge & oven manufacturers:

"Why don't you make 18, 19 & 20 ft. refrigerators which have a HIGHER ratio of Freezer space relative to Fridge space. Say a ratio of 7-11 Freeze to Fridge space, in an 18 cu. footer.

OR:
Why aren't there oven-ranges with side-opening doors, so as to need less clearance space to open the door in a cramped kitchen? (imagine if there were an island only a couple of feet directly opposite the open oven door!)

OR:
How about a 4-door fridg. for people with cramped spaces, requiring less depth / clearance? I'm talking about a TOP-MOUNT fridge that's similar to a side by side, in this respect:
That there's doors on either side.

EXCEPT, in this case: 2 on top (for freezer) & 2 on bottom (for fridge). ALSO: the fridg. would NOT be divided by a wall, nor would the freezer. Rather, one door of both the fridge & freezer might have a flap attached to provide insulation.

OR:
How about a microwave with a door that opens in the same direction that toaster ovens do: Flipping downward! Of course, first press button to "unlock" the door then, manually, flip down. WHY? Either for lefties, or else for those people who prefer their microwave on a right-corner counter, rather than a left corner counter. What about the keypad? Perhaps it can be centered above or below door.
