The NEW Cloth Diapers

I have used both cloth and disposable diapers and all of my three children. I started using cloth on my oldest child when I discovered I was pregnant with second child and would end up with two children in diapers at the same time.
I am a seamstress (at least I like to think so) and just so happen to be given about 6 cloth diapers that were form fitted. These particular ones still required pinning, but not folding.
I fell in love with these diapers as they had extra padding in the middle and were even good overnight. (most of the time) The cloth diapers were cotton flannel and the softest things I had felt in a long time! By now I was hooked, but 6 diapers is just not enough so I set out to make more and improve upon the already wonderful idea.
The first thing I did was put heavy velcro on them for closures. This made me really want to exclusively use cloth diapers! (although rinsing the "poopies" out in the toilet was not pleasant) Next I made extra padded diapers for overnight..this was wonderful! I had a great, environmentally friendly diaper that was convenient to use.
When my second child was born, I used cloth exclusively on both children and really found it as easy and convenient as disposable. Don't get me wrong, I really liked using disposable diapers as a treat for myself, but I found they didn't breath as well as cloth and my second child's skin didn't tolerate them as well.
I would use cloth diapers again if the need were to ever arise. The cost both monetary and to the environment is so much better than disposable. And with the new designs in cloth (some even are leakproof even without plastic pants) they are almost as convenient as disposable to use and certainly less expensive.
I put my money on cloth!
