Write it down
Jan 06 '01
My advise for all those who are pregnant now is to write down your experiences. I didn’t do this with my first child and I really wish I did. Although I never found enough time to write EVERYTHING down I did keep a journal of some of the most important things to me.
I have added some of my journal below to give you an idea of what I did. These pages will be of the week before my daughter birth to the week after. I really hope that it help you preserve your experience for years to come.

Subject: still here =(
Well I had my check up today and now I am more depressed then ever. Nothing is happening at all. I am still 1 cm dilated and about 40% effaced. She said it doesn't look like anything is going to happen on it's own. So I went ahead and told her Rob had to leave on business next Wednesday (which is a lie) to see if they would induce before that. She said that she would put it down as a possible for Monday. I don't want to get my hopes up for anything though. My luck they will say no. They had me do a NST and my blood pressure was extremely high and kept getting higher. My Dr. went to lunch so some jerk that was on call said that since it was normal when I came in that day it was ok to go ahead and go home. So off I went only to become sick. I was so dizzy and I ended up throwing up. First time my whole pregnancy. (I was lucky and never did get morning sickness) They had told me before I left that if I got any type of head-ache that would not go away or any really bad heart burn to come right back in to be tested. I called then up and told them what happened they had me come back in to do more NST and have blood work done. The blood turned out to be just fine and so did the NST. My blood pressure went down a bit also. I have to go back on Thursday and have anther NST and have my blood pressure monitored. Also they want to check my swelling, which is very slight right now. So here I sit in this god-awful heat still pregnant. Oh and to top it off there was a girl in the bed next to me that they went ahead and induced. When they told her she started bawling. She said she was scared. Oh well to each there own. All I know is I will not make it anther two weeks. =(

Subject: Birth story
Ok here is my story. Thursday I went in for a NST. The baby’s movements seem to be just fine. My blood pressure was a little high though. Anyway they did an ultra sound to check the fluid level and it was very low. The nurse that did the check said she got a 7. Something. So they called a Dr. in to take a look. I had to wait a while though for her to get there since it was lunchtime. When she came in she said that she could barley get a 5.0. They say that the lowest they can go safely is a 5.0. So they sent me to be induced. I came home first got my bags and Rob and we went back tot he hospital. At about fifteen till five they came in and inserted a new cream thing they have that is in a tube. It is suppose to soften your cervix. At this point I was only about 1 cm dilated and about 40% effaced. They left this thing in for 12 hours. So needless to say I was up all night with very mild cramps listening to Rob snore in the chair next to me. The next morning they let me eat something and told me that I was probably going to have to go through anther 12 hours with this cream because it really made no difference what so ever. At this time it was a shift change so the new Dr. that came in said that instead of doing that they were going to go ahead and start the potocin drip. They started the drip at 10:28 am at 6 and came in every half hour and upped it anther 6. My contractions were starting to get a little harder to where I would have to breathe through them but nothing to painful. At about 5:00 that night the Dr. came in and broke my water. That really hurt because she wasn't sure if she broke it or not because nothing came out. Well this was the magic touch my contraction became horrible right away. The nurse brought me in pain meds, which were nice for a short time but then did nothing for me. Finally at 7:36 they finally (notice I said finally twice) gave me the epidural. This is a god sent. I can't believe I went through all that pain the first time around when this was available. It relaxed me right way. Off the subject a little bit. Let me tell you this epidural could not have come sooner. My contractions were 1 minute a part and extremely strong. They weren't sure they were even going to be able to get me one in time. The Dr. who had to order it was in an emergency delivery and they had to wait for him to order it. When they sat me up to give it to me I started to scream that I felt the baby coming out and the nurse just dismissed me. Then I had to try to sit still in the middle of a contraction. That was that hardest thing I ever I had to do. After they gave this to me I relaxed right away. The contraction where on top of each other. The Nurses then switch shift again. It was so great to watch the contractions go way up and really feel nothing but tightening. :) When the Dr. finally came in to check me she was shocked that the head was right there. I told her that I had told the nurse that and she said yeah she told me but I just thought it was to soon. They got everything ready and I had pushed the baby down some more. They then moved me to the delivery room where I pushed for 5 minutes and at 9:06 pm Amanda Jessica Bell was born weighing 6 pounds 12 ounces. She was 18 3/4 inches, 35.5 centimeters head circumference. She is such a good baby too. I am so glad it is finally all over. =)

Subject: Update :O)
Hello :) Things here are going great. I went to my Great start program today to see how baby was doing with breast feeding and not only did they say she was doing better then they have seen any 3 1/2 day old do but she has already gain and ounce. :) They said they she is getting about 3 ounces at a time. The good part of it all is that she only nurses for about ten minutes if that. (Except fist thing in the morning) She also seems to get up at 2:00 and 5:00 at night for feedings at that's it. I couldn't be happier with he way things are going. I wasn't going to breast feed either because my boobs are so big. I swear I probably have enough milk to feed 100 babies. It is kind of funny though since my boob is twice the size of Amanda's head. Well anyways. I am going to go relax and take a hot shower and try to remove some of this milk myself. Hope all babies in he tummy and out are doing good.
