It was my lucky day when I noticed that Walmart had put the Safety 1st Bathtub (model #41641... I think.), a tub I had already been thinking of buying, on sale. The bathtub was originally $24.99, but was marked down to $15. Safety 1st also included 4 free infant toys with the tub. Needless to say, I QUICKLY grabbed one!! :)
At the time I bought this bathtub my son was 2 months old, and the EZ Bather I had been using since his birth wasn't cutting it anymore. He definitely needed a proper infant bathtub...
One end of this blue bathtub is long, sloped, padded and clearly marked "newborn". The other end is short, straight, non-padded and clearly marked "older infant". I used the newborn side until I felt my son could remain safely seated for his whole bath. I stopped using this tub only when my son started to frequently stand up in it, and I finally got sick and tired of telling him to sit down. ;) He was about 14 months when this happened... He was just starting to outgrow the tub, and he's on the TALL side. (32 3/4 inches @ 15 months)
I have used this tub in both the sink and the bathtub. It fits well into any standard sink, and is sufficiently narrow enough (13 inches) to allow the water to run while the tub is in place. In the bathtub it allows you to securely contain your growing child while providing a guaranteed sanitary place for him/her to bathe in.
Although this bathtub is 28 inches in length, and does not fold or become more compact, I still found it easy enough to store. I placed a long "L" shaped hook on the back of a door, and hung the tub up when it wasn't in use.
This tub was used for over a year of biweekly baths, and it held up quite nicely. I definitely plan on using it again when I have another child.
