The Slumber Party
Mar 27 '00
My daughter had a slumber birthday party this year. It went amazingly well. I did actually get some sleep. She was turning 8, and that is a pretty good age to throw a sleep over. We also only had 3 other girls over. She has gone to some sleep overs with as many as 12 girls. I think that is too many! I made her a really easy cake that I found at "Family Fun ". It was 4 girls sleeping in a bed! I made each girl look like the guests with different colored icing and gel! The "girls" were made out of filled sponge cake rolls! I also planned an opening craft. We made T-shirts. We found them for 50 cents each and used some fabric paint and let them dry overnight! It would also be cute to do pillow cases! ( You wouldn't be able to use them right away!) We made popcorn and made root beer floats and watched "Grease"! We played some charades and did some lip sync! ( It is a good idea to ask your child what games they'd like to play and have a long list... incase you need them.) Everyone fell asleep about midnight. I gave the girls little "cosmetic" organizers that close filled with bracelets and butterfly hair things and some stickers a comb and a brush. I did 4 different colors so they didn't get mixed up. If you have other kids at home... it is a good idea to have them stay at their Grandparents home for a night. We had 2 other kids under 2 so we had them skip nap time and they went to bed early! I was so amazed how well everything went!
