County Adoptions

I adopted my son last April. I adopted him from the county adoption agency. Many people say poor things about county adoptions and I hope that they can read this article. Our adoption took just Under 10 months, roughly about the same amount of time as being pregnant. He was the most beautiful little boy I had ever seen.
We had a terrific social worker. She was always prompt, friendly and was able to work around our hectic schedule. We always felt as if we were the only people that she was working for. Our worker got as much info as she could so she could work on finding the most perfect child for us.
Our adoption cost absolutely nothing. Many private agencies range from 6000 - 15,000 on up. Infertility treatments are roughly about the same. We didn't even need to pay for the fingerprinting or classes that we took. However we did do moderate infertility treatments. What our insurance would cover anyway.
We ended up finalizing our adoption last November 6, 1999 just 6mo and 1 day after we had him officially placed in our home. Our son has changed our lives and we are now in the process of adopting a second child (this time a baby girl). We feel lucky to have been able to have had such a wonderful agency and hope that if anyone interested in adoption at least look at all of your options including County Agencies. They are not at all what a lot of people make them up to be. We have become the luckiest people alive and have them to thank for that. Thank you San Joaquin County Adoptions.
