Glass blowing

I was on vacation recently and stopped at the Blenko Glass factory in Milton, WV. Blenko makes a lot of pretty colored glass items and there is a viewing area to watch the factory at work. I had my HD camcorder with me and shot the workers making a pitcher called a Bella Bocca. I just edited the video clips together last night into a somewhat coherent little video, which I uploaded to YouTube. Here it is:

I enjoy watching craftsmen make things like this, and thought I'd share it with you. Hope you enjoy it!

RE: Glass blowing

I watched it, pretty cool. It's nice to see something still done by hand instead of machine.

Hi! Great video. Enjoyed watching the glass making. Also caught your video of the butterflies. Reminded me of my visit to the Butterfly Place in Massachusetts.

Thank you for sharing!

There's a butterfly place in Massachusetts? Where?

EC Mark, a life long resident of Mass who apparently hasn't seen all the sights.

P.S. ...and Dawn just happens to have a 5-star, VH review of it, probably one reason she remembers it. ...:minism:...

Thank you for checking out another video, Dawn. There's an excellent butterfly garden in a park called Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD, that I've been to several times, and this one on Mackinac Island was similar. Incidentally, the woman with the butterfly on her face is Mrs. pvreditor, Mary Ellen.

I just uploaded a video of birds in my backyard, including house finches and a cardinal. I find it relaxing to make such videos and hope people enjoy them. Most of these last few videos are in HD... click on the "HD" box on the bottom-right of the screen to get the best quality image.

I was wondering who was wearing the butterfly adornment. :)

Love the bird feeder! I've been searching for a way to discourage squirrels from raiding the bird feeders. Is this one squirrel proof? Where did you buy it?

(Tom ... thank you for posting the link! I enjoyed my visit to the Butterfly Place and followed it up with an ice cream treat at Kimball Farm.)

Enjoy a fabulous day!

The butterfly landed on my wife's face and I got that shot with the nice smile. She tried to encourage the butterfly to leave and it only climbed higher, nearly into her eye. I didn't want to touch the butterfly but I quickly grabbed a pen and inserted it between the butterfly and her face. Then I could gently lift the butterfly off. What's funny is that five seconds after the nice smile in the video, there's a look of panic on her face as the butterfly climbed higher. Good thing I could edit that out!

Yes, the bird feeder is squirrel proof, although they keep trying to get in. So far, it has stymied the squirrels. I got it at a local garden supply store (Merrifield Garden Supply, I think). Finches love it but cardinals hesitate to go inside. Anything bigger than a cardinal can't get at the food.

Thanks for checking them out!
