Favorite Console Generation?
Out of curiosity, what is everyone's favorite generation of consoles? |

RE: Favorite Console Generation?
I would say the last one (Dreamcast/PS2/Xbox/GC). I just liked the selection of games available. It seemed like each console had its own identity. |

In terms of Consoles, I'd have to go with the Atari 2600 because that's where it all began.
As far as computer gaming, my favorite time was back when Sierra Online was huge and a new Space/King/Police Quest release was like a major event.
I sometimes miss the days of the late 80's and early 90's when not everyone and their grandmother had a PC. |

Favorite generation
My classic console review pretty much exposes what a 16-bit, fourth generation, nostalgic fangirl I am - and I haven't even owned or played a Genesis or SNES in years; I just have such very vivid memories of playing games on those systems.
Lately, I'll admit that I have grown to love the PS2 rather immensely; that is the console I currently have at my house (along with the NES, which I rebought a couple of years ago; I have access to the handheld Game Boy Advance as well, and I have relatives who own a Wii). But since I have never played any DreamCast, GameCube, or Xbox game, I am in no position to comment on the sixth generation as a whole - just the PS2. |

RE: Favorite generation
Never been much into consoles really, preferred computers on the whole. Still, today I picked up a PlayStation 1 with a few games for a fiver (that'll be about $8 to you overseas!) and have spent a while playing Gran Tourismo - still plays really well. I'm still not much good at it... oh well!
How old does a console have to be before it can be classified as a "classic" console?!

Classic consoles
A "classic" console is rather subjective. For my review on that topic, I used the primary criterion as 2D-only graphical capability, followed by how popular and/or influential I thought the system was:

However, from the comments given, it appears that I underrated the Sega Master System. I guess I was over-Nintendoized as a kid. ;) |

RE: Classic consoles
My definition of classic console is a console that isn't the current generation or previous generation. So the most recent "classic consoles" for me would be the N64 and PS1. |
