The Best Chick Flicks (Good Movies) Part One

I know you've all heard it. You've heard your boyfriends, your husbands, or your guys friends say..."Honey..that's a chick movie..I'm not in the mood." And I'm sure you've all thought to yourself, "CHICK FLICK? That's a GOOD movie!!!"
So can't they be both chick flicks and good movies? I think so. So here is my list of good "chick flicks." Feel free to comment and leave your own favorite chick flicks and I'll add them in my next article for this column.
These are not in any particular order. (Maybe that will be a good idea for an article in the future.)
1. Steel Magnolias- How can we forget one of Julia Roberts first roles in 1989. PLUS the fact that this movie is packed full of all those actresses that we most relate to: Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, and Olympia Dukakis. This movie's most popular tagline is, "The funniest movie ever to make you cry." It is a must for those nights when you just want to sit on a couch, drink ice tea, laugh out loud and bawl your eyes out.
2. Beaches- One of Bette Midler's best performances.(1988) This story tells of friendship, of love, and of loss. A good cry movie...but full of laughter and jokes that will make you chuckle to yourself for hours.
3- Thelma and Louise- No one can deny that this movie is destined to make women feel impowered no matter their age or the year. Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis take us on a ride of our lives...shooting it up...laughing it up...and crying...all the while pulling us along in their emotional roller coaster.
4- Girl Interrupted- Even though this movie is fairly new...it makes my best chick flick list because of the fact that it shows bonding between women during a time period when they were deemed unacceptable to society. Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie give outstanding performances and this movie will make you feel closer to any friend you've ever had...
