Pros: Outstanding acting from Schreck, design and direction by Murnau Cons: None, if you like silent cinema
I'm probably going to get blasted for writing this, but I'm just gonna throw it out there. "Nosferatu" was the first vampire movie ever made, and the 1922 silent film from director F.W. Murnau is a classic that has inspired other versions of the Bram...
Pros: The original vampire film, beautiful moody imagery, great performance by Max Shreck as the vampire Cons: Probably not thrilling enough for hardcore horror buffs; silent and subtitled
F.W. Murnaus Nosferatu (1922) was the original vampire film. It hails from the era of silent films but is nevertheless eminently enjoyable for modern audiences. In fact, it presently ranks as the 191st most popular film of all-time ...
Pros: Orlok is the most haunting horror icon EVER,atmospheric Cons: pacing a little off in parts, daylight blatant
Often touted as the first Dracula movie, 1922's Nosferatu cannot claim that title, there is a lost Hungarian movie that takes that honour, although that movie doesn't have much similarity to the novel of Bram Stoker, so technically Nosferatu is the ...
Pros: Brilliant direction, cinematography, imagery, atmosphere. A classic. Cons: Some acting may seem dated. Only Image and Kino DVDs do NOSFERATU justice.
The 1922 NOSFERATU is one of the great works of silent cinema and Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau was one of the great directors in all cinema. As is well-known, NOSFERATU is the first filmed version of Bram Stoker's 1897 novel DRACULA. The film makers were ...
The original, the best, Nosferatu; produced in 1922 by F.W. Murnau. This film will both delight you in its fairy tale like story but also scare you with vampyric horrors. Anyone remotely interested in vampyric stories should see this one. All those tales...
Pros: Very compelling and frightening horror film. Cons: Terrible VHS and DVD prints.
One of the earliest and best horror films of our age. Nosferatu stars Max Schrek as the horrific vampire, Nosferatu, or Count Orlock. Every single time that the vampire walked into the room towards Harker, I felt compelled to hide under a table or flee ...
With it's haunting musical score and nightmarish images, this film remains the single
most atmospheric vampire film ever made. Adapted from Bram Stoker's DRACULA
novel, this film was ordered destroyed by court order...
Master piece ruined by a stupid soundtrack by clairbear ,Jun 18 '05
Pros: GREAT example of early film history Cons: Worst soundtrack ever ruins this classic
This classic movie is one of the true greats. Too bad they did not use the original movie music to score the sound track. Instead they put a heavy metal track by a band called Type O Negative, these guys are'nt even a good metal band. and there music has absolutely nothing to do with the story of the vampire. Murnau must be spinning in his grave as his "Symphony of Horrors" is polluted by a horrorable Sym-foney.
Format: DVD, Shadow of the Vampire Costume Horror DVD - An ingenious and surprisingly effective narrative gimmick is employed in this hard-to-classify film, which purports to tell the "...
