I have been an at home subscriber to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for well over 20 years now. I have seen it go through many changes. The most recent change was the name. Although it is still the Fort Worth Star-telegram, its now called the Arlington Star-Telegram, which is just a special edition of the Star-telegram with more news centering around my city and not just Fort Worth.
I can read all the local news plus world wide news coverage, sports, business, want ads, and my all time favorite, two pages of the best loved comics. They have certain days they have special sections. Wednesday is the "food" section. Thursday they have an interesting page for us computer lovers and Saturdays edition has the "home" section, which is full of gardening tips and ideas for around the home care. The Sunday edition is packed full of store sales ads,coupons and the TV guide.
I have no big complaint about this newspaper except for the Tuesday edition. For some reason unknown to me they started printing the comic pages in color. That is not the easiest thing to focus on early in the morning before I get a pot of coffee in me. One other thing that irritates me is the strips of paper they refer to as your free "bookmarks" they place in the TV guide. They end up in my trash can first thing.....
I cant honestly compare this newspaper to any other newspaper as its the only one I read on a regular basis. I have on occasion picked up a newspaper when I have gone out of town but if I must compare I still prefer the Star-Telegram over any others.
I would say the $12.95 I pay per month is a very good value for at home service 7 days a week. I seldom have any problems with my delivery service. There have been a few times that my paper mysteriously disappeared after delivery but a simple phone call to the main office and a replacement paper was sent out immediately.
