this is the 2nd model 55 I have had. The first one was replaced in warranty (read - died within the first year) with some argument from the unfriendly customer service person. The 2nd one did the same thing after about 2 years. I took this one apart and found the issue - it has ONE plastic gear among 5 or 6 steel ones - which is now flat on one side.
it strains with 3 sheets of paper and often stops. It packs up with shredded paper especially if you try 3 up.
the motor gets warm but I haven't had it trip out.
it is loud, but my cat loves to swat at the paper as it is sucked in.
all in all good for everyday home use, but don't try cleaning up a year or two of archived documents with it in one sitting..

Pros: Large bucket, easy to use, access to push clips down, Great price
Cons: One sheet at a time only, jams, breaks

If you are looking to shred a little here or a little there at one sheet at a time, this is OK. If your looking to catch up on your two year shredding job, that's hopeless. Hidden on the inside, the duty cycle of 2min. on and 12 min. off!
