Pros: Interesting commercial, impacting and grabs your attention. Cons: Will be ignored if repeated too often.
I am sure that I am not alone when I say that the merger between Epinions and Dealtime left a lot of community members wondering what path the site would take, how this would effect the long standing members of the community and how the merger ...
Pros: Comedy, gets the point across. Cons: Although it didn't bother me...there was some violence.
I think it's a little interesting that Shopping.com's first advertisement centers around a digital camera. These products are the bane of my existence for I have never had a very good shopping experience when trying to find a good camera at a ...
Pros: Gets the point across well. Cons: Slapstick violence is not original and may turn off some.
So now Shopping.com has launched its first ad. This represents the second attempt by Epinions at TV advertising since its unsuccessful earlier attempt (I don't remember the specifics. But I do recall that one of the commercials featured a loony with a ...
Pros: Great message delivered with humor Cons: None
My son was the first to pay attention to this Shopping.com Ad. I soon realized it was about the site I am affiliated with. Then, I started paying more attention to it. The ad made a 4-year-old buy laugh his heart out. "What's wrong with this guy?" he ...
Pros: Makes an adequate point about what is known as 'Buyers Remorse'. Cons: Leaves me wishing the creators could have shown 'Buyers Remorse' in a more positive light.
Hi. I came looking for a blender and a juicer... and clicked-through to the advert just to see it... But I probably will not return, if this ad represents the level of sophomoric humour to be found at Epinions.com and Shopping.com. We live in a ...
The Shopping.Com Ad was a pleasure to watch! by lorace - Top 500,May 21 '04
Pros: Fun to watch! Not loud, not overdone and it brings out a good point. Cons: n/a
I'm looking forward to seeing it on television, but I watched it this morning on the Shopping.Com site and enjoyed it, using my Real Player.
The longer segment involves price comparisons on a Digital camera, with the original purchaser getting upset because he hadn't known about comparing prices on Shopping.Com prior to making ANY purchase.
Too bad! Wise shoppers have learned the secret to shopping for lower priced or higher quality goods is by going on the Internet and reading reviews on Shopping.Com of the article he or she is contemplating buying.
The final segment of the ad is a cute spoof of the same idea, with the uniformed buyer finding himself outdone because he hadn't compared before shopping!
The ad is good, not overdone, not offensive in any way, and it's one I won't ever use my mute on.
Thanks, Shopping.Com. Way to Go! I'll always compare prices on Shopping.Com before I buy anything.
If you haven't caught this Ad on television, visit Shopping.Com online and have yourself a pleasant look!
An appropriate moment to write my first express review on an item that takes some 30 seconds to watch!
A small group of people are in an office admiring a recent camera purchase; it turns out that the entire group purchased it and they start to compare prices.
In short, the message of the advert is focused upon that beat yourself up feeling that you get as soon as you realize that you have been ripped off spending more than you need have on a product (in this case a digital camera).
The message is that shopping.com is the place to go to compare the prices of products offered by various sellers.
OK, fine . but isnt there a number of places on the web where you can hunt down this kind of information?
Now, wouldnt it be better if rather than concentrate on price, that the advert concentrated on the more unique selling point of shopping.com, its numerous detailed consumer reviews!
The advert could feature a malfunctioning camera, with some office smart @rse saying:
"Yes, I knew that would be a problem, XXXX at shopping.com said so..."
I love the new commercial. Unlike so many other spots this one grabs your attention and keeps you engaged. I'm looking forward to seeing it again and again. I think this should really help people learn about these services.
That commercial made ME laugh! by hazmat1 ,Nov 18 '03
Pros: Humorous but to the point. Cons: None that I could see.
I believe this commercial really gets the point across, and does it in a humorous fashion...I would have watched it and I normally channel surf during commercials.
So many times, even "good" commercials fail to actually have to viewer remember the product or company that developed the ad campaign. This one, I believe, will make the viewer remember Shopping.com.
Pros: It get the name out Cons: Violence, Violence, Violence!!!
I honestly do not think the ad should feature the violence. There are probably a 100 different ways to make someone feel bad for not shopping online - but I do not think, that in this day and age, using violence is the right way!
Much delayed viewing of terrific commercial by theresed ,Feb 21 '05
Pros: Very amusing and entertaining commercial. Cons: Should have been more widely aired, to assure that I would see it sooner!
I'm afraid I was quite tardy in my discovery of epinions.com and shopping.com (and my pockets are emptier as a result), thus I had not seen your commercial until this evening. It's wonderful! We've all had those moments when you want to smack yourself in the forehead, when you first discover that you paid too much. I only wish the commercial had aired in my neighborhood, while I was watching. It makes me want to smack myself in the forehead, thinking of all the money I might have saved, had I seen the commercial sooner!
I have found epinions.com and shopping.com to be VERY helpful, and am grateful that I am finally "in the know."
Pros: The special effects are great. Hopefully there will be a string of similar commercials.
Cons: You might not remember the name of the website.
I just watched the new ad, and bravo! In one of the last true art forms left in the world, television commercials that is, Shopping.com's contribution is indeed one to keep an eye out for. Summing up almost every feeling we have all had just after what you thought was a steal of a purchase, this commercial gives you a real punch in the stomach. I love ads that use humor and I laughed out loud a few times during this one. Its a truly funny spot. I honestly went right to the website to check it out.
Shopping-Related Injuries: Non comparison shopping by whitmeg ,Nov 22 '03
Pros: A good, humorous exposure of value of on-line comparison shopping; appeals to average shopper. Cons: Though battering of the guilty shopper should be exaggerated, it is a bit over-exaggerated.
Cents-sensitive shoppers know the value of comparison shopping. With the internet just a double-click away, on-line shopping is the simplest way to compare prices of items that can be purchased in local stores and virtual stores. This Shopping.com Ad is a direct and informative commercial that delivers its message with humor. Viewers cannot see this commercial without thinking to themselves, "That has happened to me." Not everyone can learn from their past retail mistakes. This commercial certainly exposes the seemingly hidden bargains that can be found on-line. The final scene evokes a good chuckle from the viewer and thus, a sense of trust in the commercial.
Pros: comparison of products prices, features, other products and product ratings. Cons: slow Internet connection, pages load slow.
I haven't used any of the products in these commercials, but the commercial in itself has an impact on the way people shop for products nowadays. You can easily go out to a local store and buy something right off hand. But if you're looking for the best deal on this product, you can go to shopping.com and compare prices of just about anything. I have used shopping.com in the past few weeks for Christmas gifts, and it's extremely helpful. I compared prices on CD burners and digital cameras. Shopping.com lets you explore the pros and cons of your chosen product, the features, the stores you can purchase the product from and the prices.
