Pros: Good speed/acceleration, looks very nice, handles well, ample storage space, 2 people! Moped legal in most states.
Cons: It's no sport-bike, not a 'moped' in NJ.

| Wisky's Full Review: 2000 Honda Elite 50SR |
Note; this epinion is NOT on the 2001 Honda Elite, it is in fact on the 1986 Honda Aero, much like the Honda Elite, there is just not a category for used Honda Scooters. Thank you.
After a long time of wishing and searching, I finally found the right scooter for me; in fact I found it for auction on Ebay.com, and once I saw it, I guess you can say “love at first sight’. So I kept bidding and stayed on top; I eventually won the auction; and within time, the transaction was complete, I had my 1986 Honda Aero 50, in beautiful working condition with 6700 miles. Much like the newer Honda 50cc Scooters, the Aero has front/rear turn signals, low/high beam, speedometer/odometer, and of course, a loud, filled wit road-rage horn. I am sure you’re wondering how much I paid for this great machine; and I paid $660, PLUS $250 shipping from California, to New Jersey, which brings me to a total of $910. Not bad considering what I got.
The Aero right out of the packing crate started within 2 seconds of it’s electric start. Since it still had the California plates, and no insurance, etc.; I decided not to take a chance on the street just yet, I would wait until I at LEAST had a motorcycle helmet. But since I have a long driveway, I drove it there; right away I knew it was in pristine condition; cosmetically and mechanically. Acceleration is fast, although only 50cc it could probably beat a car off the line on a light. Once going 15 and maintaining it, I full throttled it and it quickly, without hesitation reached 33-35, and from there it creeped up to the end of the speedometer which is 40-42MPH. I have a proven 40 MPH with the Honda Aero, remember this is good for a 50cc small wheeled motorcycle. The scooter has a 2 stroke engine, which requires 2 stroke oil, most people think you have to mix the oil and the gas, that would be true IF you did not have oil-injection, the Honda Aero IS equipped with oil injection; very convenient. If you are looking to save money, look for a used Honda Aero, as they get 65 MPG, and are very economical with gas.
If you live in MOST states, you can register this scooter as a moped, however some states classify it as a motorcycle, such as New Jersey. Because the actual engine size is under 50cc most states don’t consider it a motorcycle.
The Aero Handles great, it sticks to dry roads like glue, and can easily take a turn while going fast and accelerating, however it is not a sport-bike, and in no way resembles one in the road, so keep that in mind. It stops on a dime, the brakes work flawlessly, especially the front brakes, but if you slam on the front brakes, be prepared to stop, as it will respond very quickly!
The dashboard is good, it is easy to read, with a speedometer up to 35, but goes on till 40. An easy to read accurate fuel gauge. And turn signal lights, high beam notification light, and low oil indicator. I love to look at speedometers while in a vehicle, and it is much easier with it’s well lighted clear dash board.
Bottom line is, if you are in search of a great commuter scooter, or just something fun to ride, a Honda Aero is for you. If you would like to go more than 40 MPH, but want to get a Honda Aero, don’t worry, there are also Honda Aero 80s and Honda Aero 125. If you’re over 15 in states other than NJ, then say good-bye to your parent’s car and listening to their soft music, you can hear the world and the air when on your own Honda Aero 50 Scooter.
Thanks for reading.
