Pros: Versatile, comfortable, affordable, strong motor.
Cons: Lean jetting, hard to start warm, tires, shocks.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommend ZZR6, pre 2005 model if you can find it. One of the best all around sports tourer in its class.

I've been looking for a ZZR6 for a while and when I found one at the local dealer on sales for $5697 ($6500 out the door, I grabbed it. So far I have put 130 miles and impressed with its power, comfort, features, and overall competence. My last bike was a 1985 VF500F Interceptor, and 20 years of tech improvement shows. I ignored the break-in and been reving it to 8k rpm and I can't wait till I get over it. Nice touches are: Centerstand, little locking compartment, fuel gauge, Neutral finder, bungie hooks, harzard lights, and ram-air. These are features normally found on more pricier bikes.
About the ride: It rides comfy and sure footed. No flat spot, pulls strong in any gear. The stock tires are soso, as well as the rear shock. I weigh 240lbs and even with max rebound and damping it floats at high speed.
My only gripe is my Californian model is jetted so lean to meet the tough emission, and it's hard to start when warm and easy to flood. It's cold blooded and takes 20 min to warm up.
I am 37 and been out of riding for 10 yrs, so this is a perfect sports tourer for me and lot cheaper than, Concours, Bandit, Katana, VF800 Interceptor, and FZ.
Overall, the best bike I ever had.
