| stopitrye's Full Review: 2223 Market Street |
I discovered 2223 on a list for my Dining For Miles program and read other great reviews, so I decided to bring my girlfriends there. I spent almost an hour at the bar waiting for my friends so show, so I can say that the bartenders were friendly and attentive. The cosmos were great.
I had informed the host that my party was late and he checked on us from time to time, but there seemed to be no rush or attitude. The last of my party showed up 30 minutes late, but we had no problems getting seated. Granted it was a Thursday night, but the place was full and there even was a short waiting list. The host was great and he also assisted in serving us later in the night.
The restaurant was well decorated and dimly lit with music in the background. Nothing really stood out as spectacular or annoying. The crowd was mainly men ranging from young and cute to older and not so cute. There was no doubt that we were not far from Castro Street. I was with 3 other women in our late 20's/early 30's. 2223 wasn't a stuffy dining experience because we were free to be our goofy selves...of course without greatly bothering any of the other patrons or the staff.
The salads and appetizers were in the $7-10 range, while entrees were about $17-20. The entrees were your standard fancy meal size, but still filling. We each had a different entree ranging from steak to pork to two varieties of fish and all were great...very flavorful and nicely presented.
Moving onto desserts ($6-8). We had the pumpkin cheesecake, the apple and something bread pudding, and the chocolate and peanut butter cake. All were very good.
The service was excellent. There was never a glass low on water or an empty bread plate.
They have a 7-year anniversary special going on at limited times (Sun-Wed?? 5pm-7pm??). It's $19.95 for a 3-course meal. Please call and ask if you're interested in this.
