| net.photo's Full Review: FUJIFILM FinePix 6900 Zoom Digital Camera |
This is my 3rd digital, the first was an Olympus D-200 it was okay for internet posting but realy nothing more than a 3"X4" could ever be printed. Having A Minolta Maxxum 9 and a Maxxum 7(Both top end 35mm slr). I could not see much more use for digital photography and thought I would have to carry the bulk of a good 35mm slr for ever. Then one day I got myself a great deal on a Minolta Dimage 1500 And started using the camera a little more I could afterall produce very decent 8"X10" suitable for framing.
Still the built in flash was a real joke and could not yet see the 35 mm format being challenged. The camera however intrigued me to the point of wanting a camera that would allow me to use a larger flash. Not to many offer that as a feature. My obvious choice was the new Minolta Dimage 7 or Dimage 5 Since I already own Great Minolta flashes. But a quick visit to my local camera store revealed the 7 to feel cheap and plasticky, so the salesperson suggested the Fuji Finepix 6900, not only was is substancialy cheaper it felt great and with the Super ccd could produce 6 megapixels images.
Well Film Is Dead!!! Sell you 35mm cameras now before the rest of the world finds out! Well actually If you often print pictures over 11"x14" maybe you should hold on to yours and I still think that my Hassy is still safe for another couple of years.
The pictures taken with this camera have been nothing short of phenomenal at 11"x14" they are astounding with amazing colours and saturation when printed by a good digital lab. But more extraordinary is how good an 8x10 comes out of a $150 HP printer. I have shown some of my shots to co-workers and they cannot beleive they were taken by a digital and printed at home. I have now bought at costco a package of 100 high gloss 8.5X11 photo paper for $20 and have also purchase for $20 Ko-Rec-Type reefill for my cartridge and can now print 8x10 for about $.30 4X6 for about 10 cents.
I digress since I am not talking about the camera, Lets review why you should sell your 35mm.
-The finepix has a 6X optical zoom ( roughly 35-210) has 2 screens one as a viewfinder the other as the typical 2" lcd on the back.
-With the preview feature you will immediately know if you should discard and retake a picture without your eye leaving the viewfinder.
- The camera feels like an SLR so most advanced amateurs will be right at home.
-8 different formats from VGA to 6 Megapixels!
-Titanium body that feels of great quality yet very light.
-Hot Shoe Put a good Vivitar or Sunpak flash and be amazed!!!
I do not want to bore anyone anyfurther so here are my recommendation: BUY IT NOW!
Oh and beat the rush of 35mm for sale on ebay!!!
Cheers
