| rfosgate250's Full Review: Rockford Fosgate Power 360.2 Car Amp |
Rockford Fosgate. Enough said. Rockford Fosgate has been one of the leaders in car audio technology for a long time. With the Punch and Punch Power line of amplifiers, they make an amp to fit any system and almost any budget.
The Punch 360a2 is a fantastic amplifier. Rockford's under rating of its amplifiers means that at the lowest voltage the amp is still capable of operation, you will get 360 watts bridged, but most cars will put out 13.8-14.4 volts meaning that you are really getting 450-550 watts when bridged mono.
The onboard electronic crossover makes setting up a beginning system easy. Setting it to Low Pass mode and the frequency range to 80-100 Hz is optimal for driving a set of subwoofers. But if you want this amp to drive a set of mid range components with tweeters, you simply slide the mode from Low Pass to High Pass and the frequency to 100-120 Hz, and you are ready to go.
In addition to the crossover, Rockford also puts an electronic Punch Bass control on the amplifier. Just a simple twist of the knob increases the bass output from 0-18 dB. The great thing about Rockford's Bass control is, it is variable, not just on or off. A lot of amps have on/off switches for bass boost, however with Rockford amps, you set where you like the bass to be.
The only downsides to the Rockford amplifier line is they get hot fast, and are a bit expensive. However, the heatsinks do dissapate the heat well, causing efficient operation and more time of listening enjoyment.
