Pros: Takes only one battery, direct tuning
Cons: weak reception, not good in noisy environments
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a personal stereo that saves you on batteries, as long as you're not gonna be in noisy areas, I don't see any problem.

| analogrulz105's Full Review: Panasonic RQ-E27V Personal Cassette Player |
I bought the Panasonic RQ-E27V at Circuit City about a year ago for $38. I wanted to try out one of these newer personal stereos that only took one battery. I chose the Panasonic because I liked the features, the direct tuning, as well as the fact it came with four AA batteries. And like most personal stereos, it had auto-reverse.
The tape player has pretty clear sound, and the batteries do last a long, long time (I would say about 30hours playback with xbs on).
But there were drawbacks. While FM reception was OK, it did overload around strong stations. AM reception was quite weak. And since I ride buses, some of which are quite noisy, I found I could not get enough volume to hear music clearly, even with closed ear headphones.
So yes, some of my suspicions about having one less battery and less output were right.
Still it is a fairly good personal stereo cassette player, as long as you aren't going to be using it in noisy places.
