This book is a true story about the lives of girls in gangs. The writer, Gini Sikes, went into gang ridden cities and made friends with different girls that are gang-affiliated. The book is interesting because Sikes details the girl's reactions to her as well as to their own environment. She tells their stories of gang initiations and different tasks that they have to perform, including drive-by shootings. It is interesting to hear what they do and why they do it, and it is in a lot of detail since Sikes put herself in their world. The book is usable for a term paper, research report, book report, or simply for entertainment. It is not only informative, but fun to read.
