| spongebob_man1's Full Review: AND1 DiabLow Mid Mens Basketball Shoes |
The AND1 DiabLow is a men's low basketball shoe. One that is made for players that move faster than myself. Being a big guy (6'-4"), for street standards - not NBA, I usually post up. This means I don't do much running around, using fancy moves, to best my opponent. However, I have been working on those moves for several months now. I have steadily improved but still need tons of work. Anyway, this shoe favors those that usually play a forward or guard position.
I have found the need to be more agile and quick because more and more often I find myself playing against bigger guys that can over power me. It's frustrating playing against someone that only has to lift their arm to block nearly any shot you attempt. It's not a dilema that's come up often in my past (High School, Jr. High).
In any case, I've used this shoe extensively and find it to be a great match to the style of play that will really elevate my game. Quick moves, fast cuts, dizzying spins, fast acceleration and lightening fast stops...that's where the DiabLow does the best work. You'll put that hard earned money to good use.
The main drawbacks to the DiabLow come from it's lack of stability and support - mainly regarding a player's ankles. Since it is a "low" shoe you lose the support for your ankles that are gained by "highs." The stability factor comes into play too, because with low shoes (at least for me) I find that I roll my ankles more often. I'm certain that's the case with other players as well. Those short stops and quick starts can cause havok on tendons and ligaments. The tread is extremely good, as should be expected from a shoe designed for this type of player. The shoe is typical quality from AND1. Synthetic upper, outstanding midsole and a great outsole (especially important for this style of play). Be sure to match the shoe you buy, not only to your personal style, but also your playing style.
The Diablo's are a great shoe to purchase. They are kind of hard to find. But I like them. I bought two pair on sale for like $90! I keep a good stock of basketball shoes. I play in some and wear others for looks and comfort. Best believe I'm no poser though!

Final Say:
AND1 is my most frequently purchased brand of shoe for basketball. Nike is second. I prefer the unique styling and great performance of AND1 though. The prices are much more comfortable to bear also! I like to support street ball and there's no other company that does as much as AND1. Be sure to check out their website and, if you can, I recommend going to see them play in your city when them come on tour. It's exciting, you'll see some of the craziest moves ever! The skill at these games is amazing!
