| naphtalia's Full Review: Asja Fendi 1.3oz Eau De Toilette Spray S Perfumes ... |
My mother has always had quite a collection of perfumes on her dresser. I was always intrigued by the various shaped bottles and the sparkling crystal decanters with their shimmering brown, rose, green or clear liquids within. I loved opening bottles and smelling the various aromas, bouquets, and occasional stenches that arose from them.
As I grew older, I loved perfumes and perfume bottles. Sometimes it was the aroma that most intrigued me. Sometimes I just liked the bottle. Sometimes a beautiful bottle contained a beautiful aroma. That was the case when I discovered Asja by Fendi.
Asja is a fairly recent addition to the world of perfumes. The design house of Fendi released it in 1992. It is a subtle, oriental fragrance that is recommended for evening wear - though I have been known to wear it to give me a lift when I was home and knocking around the house.
Asja's bottle looks a bit like a black and gold striped Chinese rice bowl with a cover. Actually, there are two versions of the bottle. One is solid black and the other is black and gold. It is rather short, but wide. It is very lovely.
Asja contains citrus, rose and jasmine scents. I'm normally not a big rose fan, but the citrus cuts the oversweet smell nicely. Its middle note is primarily ylang-ylang. This all eventually fades into the bottom notes of amber and sandalwood. Here is a a floral fragrance that doesn't overwhelm. For every note of sweet floral, there is a matching note of something else to balance the sweet.
It isn't often that I like both the bottle and the perfume inside equally well. In this case, however, I'm dutifuly impressed with both.
Asja Eau de Toilette spray retails for approximately $50 for a 1.3 ounce bottle. However, it is possible to find it on sale both in department stores and on-line for between $25 and $30. The perfume is more difficult to find, but will run you about $75 for a 2.5 ounce spray bottle. You can often find it on sale for about $40.
