| mole2000's Full Review: ATI ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON, (32 MB) PCI Video Card |
I purchased the ATI All in Wonder Radeon 32MB AGP card
because my ATI All in Wonder 128 card did not work in my machine in Windows2000. I saw that ATI had this new card out that natively supported Windows 2000, so I figured great, I found it at a website for only $199 and grabbed it. My experience w/ the card has been quite sad.
I installed it on my main machine (AMD K6-2 500 - Win2k) only to see that it would not go above 16 colors. I installed every driver they offer and troubleshooted for a couple weeks. I even tried installing the card in a 2nd computer (AMD K6-2 300) in Win2000. The card seemed to work on Win98. But on Win2000 it would not go above 16 colors again.
I can see this card could be a great value to someone if they got it working. I chose the card because it was the only card I knew of that provided so many features (DVD,TV,Video capture, etc) in one card.
Overall, I'm VERY disappointed w/ this card. I had high hopes. I bet though if I had the $ to go out and buy a nice INTEL machine (CPU and mainboard) that the card would work w/ no flaws. So partly it's AMD and partly windows2000.
If you are running and AMD machine and have Windows 2000, think twice before buying this card.
ps. I tried getting the card to work on these 2 mainboards
GigaByte - GA-5AX w/ Aladdin 5 Chipset
PC100 w/ VIA Chipset
Oh, I forgot to mention...I called the # that came w/ the card for tech support. It was long distance (not toll free) I talked over an hour to them and they offered me NO help. I was dismayed when I saw my phone bill, on which was a $45 charge for that call, which had apparently been to Canada! The # was a 10 digit number like any I call, and I didn't even dial a "1". A guy from tech support did finally call me back and seemed nice about it, but none of them knew anything about computers and couldn't help me at all. Neither did they suggest an option for me to take. :-( well, good luck w/ this card. Mine is running 16 colors on my server machine now.
