| frainke's Full Review: AT&T Quickfire Cell Phone |
I bought the Att Quickfire 3G in January 2009 as a replacement to an LG phone. I was looking for something with a full keyboard and more functional for my needs. The Quickfire although bulky in design offered many great options most of which I use. The basics of the Quickfire is that it is a slide phone with a full lighted keyboard, the micro sd card slot for more memory, Bluetooth, text, email and much more which I will go over the main features that I have used on this phone.
Text Messaging and Email: With Att and monthly text rates vary but they start at $4.99 a month for 200 text messages and the email I believe runs into data usage which is also another monthly fee. The email features lets you add sites such as yahoo or AOL to easily access your email anywhere. This is one of my favorite features. It is very easy to send and receive email on this phone. You can also access instant messaging such as yahoo or AOL.
Att Navigator: This is your phones GPS, I signed up for this service only for a short while. The GPS would never pick up my location here in West Virginia. So if you live in a rural area beware of this option. Att music: Through this feature you can access the net for music or play your own mp3 music you have loaded into your micro sd card. The onscreen options lets you run through your music and the external speakers is not too bad for a cell phone. There is also a jack for headphone for stereo sound quality.
1.3 MP Camera and video recorder: Many cell phone don’t do very well in the camera department but let me tell you the Quickfire takes very nice pictures with options on screen to save or send via email right then. You can also add in little extras to you photo such as balloons and 4x zoom! The video recorder is nice also. You can record good quality videos and save to phone or to your sd card. You can also send via email right from the phone. I used both the camera and the video when out trail riding and got some great shots and needless to say the phone held up great on the rough trails.
Parental Controls: This is great if you didn't sign up for unlimited data and you don't want all the fees associated with internet or downloads. The Kb's add up as we all know! With the parental control feature you can restrict access to CV or Cellular video and the media net and mobile web which allows access to the web and downloads. I know that on my other LG phone I was always having issues with hitting the wrong key and the phone trying to connect me to the net. I love this feature on the Quickfire.
The Net: I signed up for the unlimited data plan and love it. I can access any web site out there including those not set up for mobile web. You can do your MySpace or Face book right from your cell phone. You can also look up any other web site although the quality may be a little off, you can still get what you need.
The Games! This phone only comes with a few demos like Diner Dash and Tetris. But once again you can go to the Att website and buy more games for very good prices!
The battery on the Quickfire is a 1200 maH which gives you about 3 hours of talk time and 12 days of standby. Which I found not to be true. The battery runs down pretty quickly and the phone can go dead after one day of usage. You can talk on it less than 3 hours and by the end of the day you need to recharge. The internal memory is 29.3 MB with the external micro SD card option up to 8 GB. This is a quad band phone with the 3G network for more high speed data and voice. Which means you get better signal even in rural areas. The display size is 2.87 inches and the touch screen even works for those big fingers! There is a hands free speaker phone, an USB port for connecting to your computer. You can also find the calendar, alarm clock, to do list and all your other basic functions even a countdown timer such as there are 80 days left until Timmys birthday.
Overall this is a nice phone with lots of functions and at a good price. Since I returned my LG I paid $149.99 for the Quickfire. But you can get it for much less through the Att website with contract or upgrade. For more information on the Quickfire be sure to visit the ATT web site and search Quickfire!
