From the comment in your review I learned that your system actually meet minimum specs and the brand (eMachine) really should not have too much of an impact.

I am impressed. What resolution and detail are you running DOOM 3 with? It seems that you can make it run smooth on lower systems at 640x480 with low detail, but then you're really missing out on the 'real' DOOM. (I wish I could set everything to maximum.)
However, the heavy lifting is done by the VPU and the memory and both meet the minimum requirements listed. The CPU might get you into trouble every now and them when lot's of stuff is going on. Seems like you're doing alright.
Thanks for your comment.

Doom 3 is very playable on lower-end $550 system (Reply to this comment)

This is an excellent, detailed review. Nice work!
Doom 3 works on a Celeron e-Machine and doesn't require a Pentium 4 as it says on the box, so there aren't really "steep system requirements" as the review states.
In fact, we tested it on a machine that cost $350 USD with a $50 USD 256 DDR RAM upgrade (to bring to 512MB RAM total) and $100 NVIDIA GEFORCE FX 5200 PCI card and it played good at lower resolutions. Total gamer cost: $550 USD which is pretty cheap for a PC gaming machine.

I am glad you liked it and found it VH. Now if only the picture (box art) would change to the actual box art and permanently replace the old DOOM II logo ...
