I have had an ongoing problem with my wisdom teeth and my jaw for quite some time now. The pain comes and it goes, but, when it hits, I'm miserable. Recently I was using another pain reliever with great success. When I ran out I sent my husband to pick up another bottle. Instead of coming back with my normal pain reliever he came home with a bottle of Advil Liqui-Gels. When I questioned him he just shrugged and told me he had forgotten which one I had asked for. Men!
~*~Cost & Location~*~
My husband purchased our bottle of Advil Liqui-Gels, containing 80 capsules for around $8.99 at our local CVS pharmacy. You can find this product almost anywhere Advil products are sold, varying in price.
~*~Just The Facts Folks~*~
Advil Liqui-Gels come in several different sized bottles. You can purchase the 80 count, 135 count, 180 count and 225 count. There are also smaller bottles available I believe, but I'm not quite sure how much is in the smaller bottles.
Advil Liqui-Gels is, as regular Advil, Ibuprofen. Unlike the regular Advil, the Liqui-Gels have what is called Solubilized Ibuprofen. In other words, it's in a liquid form. Advil Liqui-Gels is indicated as a pain reliever and fever reducer. It can be used to help ease several types of pain including; headache, toothache, muscle aches, backache, arthritis, menstrual cramps and symptoms related to the common cold.
Advil Liqui-Gels is touted as being fast on pain and fever while still being gentle on the stomach.
The capsules themselves are a light, clear blue in color. You can easily see the liquid inside the capsule. Like with other Advil products, the capsules have a slightly sweet taste.
Advil Liqui-Gels are to be given to children and adults, 12 years of age and older. Dosage instructions state to give 1 capsule every 4-6 hours as needed. If the pain and fever do not ease with 1 capsule, another can be given. It is important to not exceed more than 6 capsules in a 24 hour time period. Do not administer to children under the age of 12 without first consulting your physician.
Ingredients:
Active Ingredients: Solubilized ibuprofen equal to 200mg ibuprofen (Pain reliever/fever reducer).
Inactive Ingredients: FD&C Green #3, Gelatin, Pharmaceutical Ink, Polyethylene Glycol, Potassium Hydroxide, Purified Water, Sorbitan, Sorbitol.
As with all medications, it is important to use caution and follow the directions. If you are pregnant or nursing, be sure to ask your doctor before using this product. Be sure to check the information on the box for allergy warnings.
~*~My Experience~*~
I have had this problem with my wisdom teeth and jaw for way too long. I finally gave in to the pain and paid a visit to the dentist. Trust me, the pain was that bad. Unfortunately he told me what I already knew. My wisdom teeth are coming in impacted. While this could be easily solved in most cases, in mine it cannot. I have TMJ, a problem with the jaw joints. In order to go through with having my wisdom teeth surgically removed I will have to undergo jaw therapy as well as splint therapy in order to endure my mouth being opened for an extended period of time. My dentist gave me some prescribed pain medication, but, I still try to avoid taking it if I can help it. That is why I rely on over the counter pain medications such as Advil Liqui-Gels.
While I was a bit irritated with my husband for not picking up my "old reliable" pain medicine I was actually pretty happy that he grabbed Advil Liqui-Gels. I had been wanting to try them, but, was afraid to stray from my normal medication. Much to my relief Advil Liqui-Gels work as promised. I normally take 1 capsule and that takes care of my pain. However, there are instances when the pain is so severe that 2 capsules are necessary.
Advil Liqui-Gels really do work fast to relieve my mouth pain. I can take 1 and within 20 minutes the pain is subsiding substantially. Within 25-30 minutes it is completely gone. This is a very reasonable amount of time for a pain medication to begin taking affect.
I have been very pleased with the amount of pain relief Advil Liqui-Gels provides. It eases my mouth pain a great deal, leaving me to go along with my normal routine without suffering. The relief is very long lasting, normally lasting a full 5-6 hours before another dose is needed. This helps, especially when I need pain relief during the night.
Advil Liqui-Gels has also worked wonderfully for my headaches and minor muscle and back pain. We're in the process of moving again, so needless to say I've had plenty of muscle and back pain recently! This product works quickly on all of the pain I take it for.
I have had no allergic reactions when using this product.
