This past summer, at a sleep away camp in Maine I was attacked by mosquitoes. Yet another reason why I hate that place (See my review on JCC Camp Kingswood). Evidentally mosquitoes are more bloodthirsty in Maine than anywhere else I have been.
Mosquitoes only bite people when they are pregnant. So this takes out at least half the mosquito population, and I'm thinking about half of the females. Well, anyway, it seemed as if every single bugger was on me. They like ankles. My friend thought I had invented a new dance, but no, I was constantly scratching my ankles with the other foot.
I am so glad that when I was pre-camp shopping at the drugstore that I picked up a stick of that good stuff----Afterbite.
It's not a spray or a cream, it's a liquid. This is annoying because if you apply too much it can run off onto other parts of your body. This wasn't a problem with me, since my body was covered in mosquito bites. However, you don't want it to run off on to your clothes because it can stain them.
Afterbite is easily transportable. It's like a fat pen. The cap has a clip and it's a cylinder with liquid that comes out through a hole in the top when you turn it upside-down. In fact, you probably could write with the thing, although I wouldn't recommend it.
It works better than Caladryl and is better to use since it doesn't leave an ugly pink stain on your skin. Also it's not as smelly, though it does have a small odor when you first apply it. And also, do you really want to keep a bottle of a smelly pink liquid with you and cotton balls to apply it? I think not. Just remove the cap from your Afterbite stick, flip it, revert it, put the cap back and you're good to go.
Though I would say, try not to get bitten in the first place, should you find yourself in a similar predicament as I, reach for the Afterbite.
