I did and hope you did also. Once I get through tax season (my first and only capital gains), '04 should be just spiffy. OK ... how does one go about getting an item added to epinions???

Rod: I ran across the other "Any Number" book when I was looking for this one in the EEps database. I had to have this one added. Maybe you should do a review of the CF book. I hope you had a happy holiday and that 2004 is a great one for you.

Fascinating review... (Reply to this comment)
by catu11us
...made all the more fascinating by the personal details. I really enjoyed reading it, although it's not the sort of book I'd read myself.
There is another book called "Any Number Can Play", which you ought to look up. It's a collection of fabulous, usually very funny, essays by the enormously talented Clifton Fadiman. I've had my (paperback) copy for 40-odd years, now.

How Exciting (Reply to this comment)

to be personal friends with someone who has made it big time as an author...it tells something about you that you didn't rush out to read his books, but remained friends nevertheless. A truly fascinating review - but then what else is new?

This book is on my list of to-reads. Great review. Your personal memories of the author were a wonderful addition to your review too. Thanks for joining the write-off Ed!
