Pros: Easy set up, handy config and system power buttons, USB ports; sharp, accurate digital color.
Cons: Not real easy on the checkbook (but worth every penny).
The Bottom Line: Doing graphics and video, this LCD finally lets me enjoy a flat screen with excellent color accuracy. Highly recommended for anyone who wants (but can't afford) a Cinema Display.

| mboszko's Full Review: Apple Studio Display 17 inch CRT Monitor |
As a video editor and effects artist, when my last tube monitor finally bit the dust, I really wanted to replace it with a flat panel display. Sure, tubes have come way down in price, but I had spent enough time in front of a Hugh Jass flickering tube. Doing research, it looked like Apple's own integrated technology seemed to be the way to go.
I've had this monitor for a month now, and I've been more pleased with this purchase than any other monitor I've ever had previously.
The image quality is astounding, with the incredible brightness and contrast ratio of this LCD. The color fidelity is also great, rivaling that of my old tube monitor. In fact, it's easier to set up (and probably more accurate over time) due to the built-in Apple ColorSync technology that keeps the monitor always accurate.
There are no real size/geometry controls to speak of, since this is an all-digital display, connected through Apple's ADC adapter to my G4 tower. The only controls are two touch-sensitive spots on the display front (there are no actual "buttons" in the normal sense)-- one that brings up the Mac OS "Monitor" control panel (or "Preference Pane" in Mac OS X), and another that acts in the same manner as the power button on the front of the G4, controlling the power to the whole Mac system, and including a power-on LED behind the button area.
It takes up very little space on my desk (about 18" wide by 8" deep), and though heavier than I thought it would be, is still much easier to move around than any tube monitor. Adjusting the angle of the display is similarly easy, relying on a counterweighted third foot extending from the rear of the display.
The monitor is extremely easy to look at for extended periods, owing to the flicker-free LCD display. The size is also comfortable, being at 17" exactly, about the size of the viewable display on a 19" tube monitor. The native (and accordingly, sharpest) resolution is 1280x1024.
Connections: The monitor is connected to my G4 by ADC (Apple Display Connector), which carries the digital signal, power, and USB. There are 2 USB ports on the back of the monitor, which work perfectly.
