Pros: Stylish, lots of ports, big monitor for a laptop.
Cons: Fragile, heats up quickly, quickly drains battery, no sound in port.
The Bottom Line: It's not easy to travel with something so fragile, and it's not good enough for a home computer. So what's the use?

| mr_chupon99's Full Review: Apple PowerBook G4 15.2 in. (M8591LL/A) Mac Notebo... |
I have to wonder whether these machines were field tested because they have a rather large problem due to the way they're made. Because the laptop is so thin, the LCD display doesn't have firm backing to it. This means that unless you have a laptop only bag, weight will press into the top of the laptop, which will press the LCD screen against the keyboard, which makes black smudges appear all over your screen when you open it again. Worse yet, my screen has permanent damage near the top from being carried around.
One could say this is from ill-care. But I think that this computer should be able to sit in a pack with a few textbooks putting a bit of pressure on it without problem. the iBook's are a bit thicker and can handle it just fine. If a laptop can't handle the rigors of travel, what's the point in getting one?
This machine is pretty much a waste of good money. Laptops are for doing Microsoft Office work, maybe some Adobe / Macromedia stuff, and you do not need a machine this strong for that. The iBooks are more cost effective, and will last longer most likely. Extra power is for video editing, and games, and the video card in this system can't handle either very well.
The newer G4 laptop gives you a better video card, and sound-in features, but the lack of upgradability, and the fact that you can get a much better stationary computer for the same price, makes you wonder how much you really need to travel with a computer anyway.
