| jenmuse's Full Review: Aquaphor Healing Ointment Baby |
My son developed Ezcema several months ago and we talked to our pediatrician who told us to try the Aveeno line of products for bathing, lotioning, etc. So we did, and it helped a little but he kept having bad flare ups and started to scratch and cause the skin to ooze. So again we asked the pediatrician and she said to try the Aquaphor. She gave us some samples and within 24 hours it had moistured his skin enough to clear up the ezcema. I purchased a jar and he have used almost a whole jar in the last month. I put it on thick right after his bath and a good dry off. It helps to moisturize for 24 hours so I do not have to stop my energized toddler and reapply several times a day. Since it is so thick, applying it when my son cannot mess with it until it absorbes in is the best way to go. The aquaphor is a thick ointment so when you apply it, it takes about 30 minutes to totally absorb into the skin. If I have to apply it during the day, which is rarely, then I have to have him sit on my lap until it absorbes good or else he will wipe if off on whatever he can find. The doctor said it will not eliminate the ezcema but it will keep it from flaring up.
The only drawback to this ointment is the cost. It is like 8 dollars for a small jar but it looks like I will have to pay that every month to keep my son moisturized.
