I never thought that using a wheel cleaner from a trusted brand such as Armor All would ruin a wheel. I have a '94 Camaro Z28 with the stock Z28 wheel that is clear coated. I first hosed off the wheel and sprayed some Quiksilver II on. I let it sit for about one minute. I scrubbed the wheel with a soft wheel cleaning brush and went to rinse the cleaner off. Let me say that I was very disappointed when I found that the cleaner had stained the clear coating on my wheel! I attempted to polish the damage out, but it didn't help much. I left the cleaner on only as long as the manufacturer (Armor All) recommended. It does say right on the bottle that it is safe for all clear coated wheels.
In conclusion, it's obvious I didn't have a good experience with Quiksilver II, which now goes by the name of Armor All Wheel Cleaner. It may work on different types of wheels, but I wouldn't trust it again. I like every other product in their line however, this one just didn't meet my expectations.
