Bought Atkins Shake Mix Because The Ready to Drink Shakes were tasty. I was thinking it would taste just like their ready to drink shakes except more convenient. I was wrong...
Getting Atkins mix to actually mix is a challenge. Don't even bother if you don't have a blender. It simply will not mix very well by hand no matter how much you stir, and I don't know why. The mix tries to clump even in a high powered blender. Other protein drink mixes I have tried mix right up and taste great but this stuff is the antithesis of everything else I have tried.
Cleaning the blender after use is a pain with this product. Hopefully it doesn't harden in your artery walls like it hardens in the blender if left to sit. Rinse blender right after use or beware or break out the scrubber.
After all this effort I was expecting something tasty and very creamy, delicious, and satisfying. The texture is not at all appetizing, and it's very chalky. If you don't use a blender on the stuff it clumps and the texture is even less appealing.
It is not a very sweet drink, nor is it flavorful. Very weak chocolate flavor and not at all sweet. Tastes slightly like vitamins, and the aftertaste is somewhat metallic.
Mix doesn't really smell like much. Faint chocolate scent.
When it comes to filling you up, the shake mix works quite well, but is not worth the time or effort. After eating it I don't really think too much about food for a good six hours or so.
The price is the worst part. The shake mix makes about 11 servings, but costs almost $20. That is almost $2 a serving. Not worth the price at all because of the bland taste and lumpy texture.
Atkins shake mix is a product that could be improved. The company needs to work on the texture first, then the taste. After that it might be worth using.
My advice is to try a similar product: Atkins Ready to Drink Shakes. Don't bother with the shake mix...it not worth the time or the money.
