| gjacks's Full Review: BattleStations: Midway for Xbox |
As commander of the US forces, you plot to use all of your resources to win the war. This includes warplanes, ships, and submarines. Watching from above, you strategically plan each and every land, sea, and air strike.
After you have watched it all happen from afar, you decide to get into the action yourself. So, you change from being the commander to flying a plane or being in charge of a battleship or submarine.
In the new game, BattleStations: Midway, for the Xbox 360, you can do it all. Whether you just want to be the commander and strategize or get down and dirty with the soldiers on the ground, it's your option. As the commander, you can control multiple planes, ships, and submarines at the same time. Or, you can choose to pilot a single plane or submarine. Or, you can switch back and forth between all of the above.
To borrow from the BattleStations: Midway website: Battlestations: Midway follows the story of naval recruit Henry Walker, whose first assignment as a gunner at Pearl Harbor is the starting point of an incredible career at the heart of the US Pacific Fleet in 1942, in what was to become one of the most inspirational military campaigns in history.
One of the great things about this game is the multiplayer and Xbox Live capability. You can play with up to 8 players. Between these 8 players, you can control over 100 military units. Just get out your headset and controller and sit down for a long battle. But, beware! You could miss a meal or two as this game sucks you in and won't let go. "Addiction" comes to mind very often when playing this game...and I only have the demo version as the full version comes out today, Thursday, January 25, 2007. I can't wait to get to the store to get the full effect.
The graphics in this game are simply amazing. My wife walked through the room the other night when I was playing it and thought I was watching a movie. It's that realistic. The realism goes as far and dealing with different types of weather and environments. The detail given to the planes and warships is not comparable to any game I've ever seen.
As you can probably guess, I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys battle-type games.
