| Ericka_Larson's Full Review: Bayer Advantage |
Advantage definitely gave my cats an advantage. We had fleas. I had no experience with fleas because coming from the Rocky Mountain states fleas don't have a chance to build up to an infestation like they do in places like Southern California.
All I know is that it started with me coming home on a Sunday night to a very lethargic elderly cat. I'd never seen her like this. She was lying on my pillow and I noticed all this black dust on her. This scared me so much so that I called the emergency vet and asked what could have happened to her. The vet told me to take the black dust and wet it down and tell him if it turned into blood. It did and he told me that she was infested with fleas. I started going through her fur and, sure enough, there were little bugs crawling all over her. I had to feed her water through a dropper to keep her strength up and the next morning I raced to the veterinarian and bought enough Advantage for her and the three little kittens I was boarding. Within hours the fleas were gone! I was happy, the cats were happy, and we were living the life again.
Only I wasn't aware that flea infestations have cycles. Within a few weeks I started getting bites on my ankles. I didn't notice it much or even think about it much until the bites started moving on up my body and I was getting bites here and there all over. Someone mentioned that it looked like a flea bite so I checked the cats, but they were clean. I doused them with Advantage again, just to be sure, and went on my merry way, but I kept getting bites.
Then one night I couldn't go to sleep. I could feel the fleas jumping on me and biting me and it was driving me crazy!!! I finally screamed and jumped up and turned on the light. I examined all the cats closely and not a one of them had fleas on them. I went into the bathroom and examined myself and my hair had fleas crawling through it! I felt so filthy even though I knew that I wasn't. I called the emergency vet and asked if they knew if there was some kind of Advantage for humans and they didn't. I called my doctor and asked and they didn't know either so finally I called my Mom who told me to call my Aunt, a woman who had lived down south and knew how to handle all sorts of creepy crawlies that lived in the south. I called her and found out the human equivalent of Advantage, Lysol.
