| bought_it_all's Full Review: Bertucci's Brick Oven Pizzeria |
I have long been a fan of Bertucci's, and will not stray from the path now. I have had experiences, both good and bad, within those sacred walls, and will now share some with you, my devoted reader.
To start, Bertucci's has a very warm and inviting atmosphere. The large brick ovens, open fires, and rich aromas create a homey, pseudo-Italian feel. The air almost waves visibly.
Most have a bar and separate area for drinking, smoking, and watching a large television. These are good places to gather with friends after work or on the weekend. It's higher on the class-scale than a local bar, and not as uptight and loud as a club.
Once you're seated, you have (depending on the location) between 5 and 90 minutes to make your selection. While you wait for your server to reappear, you may feast on the warmest, freshest, most delicious rolls I've ever had. I honestly go there with about 40% of my taste buds ready for their bread. Ask for extra.
The meals are good, with a few standouts. My personal favorites...
Pollomatch Pizza - An excellent combination of barbequed chicken, scallions, sauce and cheese, served on thin crust pizza dough. Even better reheated in the toaster the next day.
Chicken, Broccoli, and Ziti - The ingredients are self-explanatory, and the flavor is exceptional. It's served in a cream sauce, and I have always been satisfied.
Chicken and Tortellini - The same cream sauce (a little more) and chicken, plus cheese-filled tri-colored tortellini (spinich, tomato and regular.) This is usually my favorite, however when I ordered it last time it came to me sans chicken.
When they have it, the lobster ravioli is also worth the price. It seems to be seasonal, so look out for it.
In general, the prices at Bertucci's are very reasonable (about $8-15 per entree.) The menu doesn't change very much, but there is decent selection (it could expand a little.)
The service varies greatly. Sometimes you will receive prompt and attentive servers who know their job and seem to care, but sometimes you get the frazzled newbie who takes an hour to find you. The last time I went, it was the Westport, CT location. It honestly took about 30 minutes for her to take our order, and another hour to deliver it. When she did, we overheared her talking to the table behind us. Apparently, they were seated before us and had still not received their meals. It seems that she had neglected to inform the kitchen of their order. Hmm. Small tip on that table.
To sum up - the food is great, the rolls are even better, and the service is a crap shoot. Take your chances, but don't miss out. Go to Bertucci's.

Notes, Tips or Menu Recommendations Previously stated. Oh, and the White Zinfindel is a fine choice with the chicken tortellini - maybe not refined, but tasty. Best Suited For: Kids and Families
