mrsamylynn's Full Review: Bissell ProHeat Turbo Deep Cleaner Upright Steam C...
I was excited to finally buy a new steam cleaner. I was using an old one that my mother had given me prior to buying the Bissell Pro-Heat Turbo. As soon as we got home I got it all set up and ready to go. That was the easy part. I will admit the set up is very simple, but that's where simple ends with this machine.
Problems with the machine: 1. I filled the cleaner bottle full and snapped it in place. I started to clean my carpet and all was well... until I looked at the cleaner bottle after about 10 minutes - it was EMPTY! I did have it on "high" traffic so I figured that was why. I switched it to "low" traffic, re-filled the cleaner bottle and started cleaning again. Within 10 minutes - GONE! I decided to start all over. I dumped the water, rinsed everything out, refilled the water and cleaning solution and this time I put it on "Water Only" and started cleaning the carpets once again. Guess what? It worked much better. By the time I was done with the living room the cleaner solution bottle was only half full. Yup, crazy huh? I have to use this cleaner on the "Water only" cycle for the right amount of cleaner to come out!
2. The brush. The main long cleaning brush on the bottom broke on my within a week. I called customer service and after being on hold for about 10 minutes the woman explained to me how to remove the brush. I did this and told her how it looked. She said that it had melted on one side and that's why it couldn't spin. She also said she'd be happy to mail me out a replacement. Ok - that was good, free replacement. I asked her if this is a problem that happens often and she said "Not too often, but often enough". I then asked her, so if this happens again I can call you back for yet another replacement? She proceeds to tell me that they will mail out ONE replacement piece and after that I have to purchase replacement brushes and pay for shipping! What?!?!? A product that melts the brush due to no fault of my own and I have to keep purchasing replacements? Nice....
3. It's loud. Very loud. No listening to music while cleaning!
4. It's heavy. I can control it fine, but some people might have trouble lugging this around and moving it. Especially if you are going up and down stairs with it - be careful!
5. I really don't think it heats up the water. Doesn't feel too hot to me at all. I do fill it with as hot of water as my tap goes but by the time I'm using it the water feels warm to cold on the carpet.
The GOOD:
1. It stores well. All attachments snap on and the hoses and plug fits nicely and neatly on the machine.
2. Very easy to put together and get started. I like that there is only one place for the water. The dual water storage box is a great idea!
3. It looks nice. It's not huge, bulky and ugly like my old machine I had.
4. The hand tools work PERFECTLY! I do have to admit for cleaning sofas, chairs and such this machine is great. But why purchase a huge machine like this to just use the attachments?
So, all in all - I miss my old and ugly machine. It wasn't pretty to look at - but it did the job right!
