| ron's Full Review: Bistro Aix |
You probably haven't heard of Bistro Aix, and if you've passed by it while meandering around the Marina, you probably didn't know it was there. In its Marina anonymity rests the perfect French bistro to take a date to on a nice evening in San Francisco.
Tip:
Request to be seated in the back courtyard. Bistro Aix's tented courtyard is simply charming and adds a warm ambience to Bistro Aix that the indoor seating cannot offer. While indoors seating may be acceptable for some in this French bistro, the back courtyard, adorned with vined greenery, soft white lights and heat lamps for those chilly SF summer evenings, is the way to go.
Food:
Surprisingly delicious. I took a chance on Bistro Aix and it paid off. The food was excellent as well as prepared and presented very well. Try the salmon or the salad nicoisse, with tasty salted meat edges.
Ambience/Service:
The back courtyard gave this French bistro a warm and inviting feel. The interior was polished oak hardwood, which was a much colder feeling. The service was very accomodating and polite.
Price:
Kind to your wallet. Considering how many shi-shi French bistro's there are in the bay area, this one delivers without strain on your pocketbook.
Overall:
Can't say enough about this quaint little Marina bistro. It has great food, an inviting ambience, and good service. Ideal for a date, good for an evening out with a friend, Bistro Aix is happily one of my most surprising restaurant recommendations.
