badbonz0007's Full Review: Black & Decker PS130 12V Black & Decker Battery
If you have ever at least one Black and Decker tool you will know that they are built to last, at least the older models that is. Now-a-days they all have the battery operated ones and yes, sometimes you do have to replace the rechargeable batteries that come with the tool that you buy. This is not a bad price for a replacement of a battery that will last for several years, it will cost you only twenty five dollars at any store the sells Black and Decker products, and usually you will have a better chance finding this battery at one of the big box stores in your neighborhood.
Description
This very powerful battery only weighs less than two pounds and is approximately 7” x 6” x 4” in diameter. Some batteries have a memory built inside but not this NiCad battery, you do not have to worry about over charging this battery because it will stop after a certain time. It has a very durable outside casing so that when it is dropped it will not crack, which it will happen just by accident. You can recharge this up to and possibly more than 500 times. I have the older model Firestorm model and this battery does an excellent job. This 12 volt battery will fit in the 3/8” drills and is built to take a lot of abuse. This will come with a two year warranty but you will not have to worry about ever using this warranty because the battery will last a lot longer than that.
Experience
I have been using my firestorm drill for several years and I have put it through the rough and rigorous routine of a construction job site. A lot of different people used this drill, and if you know people and tools, it is just like when different people drive the same car. If it is not theirs the will drive it into the ground and would not even bat an eye. This battery went through several hundred charges and just kept on ticking. The people that used this battery and drill and without disregard have beaten this into the ground by dropping and having it land every time on the battery end of the drill. The battery never even cracked or stopped working. Every time that we have charged this battery, when the little green light went on, the battery was good to go. We just traded it with the battery that was low, and when the newly charged batter was installed it would electrify the drill like a brand new drill.
Conclusion
If you can not afford a Dewalt or Makita or even a Craftsman 12 volt drill, then this is the best thing that will fit your budget. I am still using the original batteries that came with my drill. I have loaned it out to everyone to do all sorts of jobs. It has pushed 3” lag bolts into submission, this battery will last at least eight hours on a single charge. Whether it is metal or wood you will be happy with the results that you get. I have used this on every type of job that you could think of and it has never failed me. Five stars for this battery.
