jlundquist1's Full Review: Bodyflex ESI9050 Gravity Inversion Table
I have suffered from chronic back problems for years. I know it's a combination of my height (6'5''), extra pounds, and that I wear 30lbs of gear at work. I herniated some disks a few years ago, but I've also suffered from muscle spasms. I have tried everything short of surgery. During my last "Mrs. Fletcher help I've fallen and can't get up" episode a friend and I talked about inversion tables. Most I've seen advertisements for are just too expensive at $300 plus. I found this one at Academy Sports for $99.99.
Today is the first time I've ever used inversion therapy and I'm already convinced that hanging upside down really works. It definitely takes some getting used to. I first tried to completely invert myself, but that only lasted a minute. After that I followed the instructions and gently and gradually increased my angle which works very well. It seems so simple but hanging upside down stretches your back in a unique way.
I was pleasantly suprised at the quality of this unit. I can only compare it to displays I have seen. The manufacturer lists a 250lb max capacity. I admit I'm 260 but not worried about breaking the table. The body champ is constructed of pretty hefty guage steel although it's light enough to move around. The "table" section is made of nylon fabric. It isn't "rip stop" nylon and I feel that this is probably the weakest section of the unit. I was impressed that the logo is embroidered and not screen painted. The unit adjusts for height from 4'10'' to 6'6''. It also folds for storage, although it is still bulky and large when folded. This and any inversion table is like a recliner in that you will need plenty of clearance to use it. This unit is made in China, and as is typical the assembly instructions are a bit confusing.
Overall I'm satisfied with this purchase. I'm a big guy and feel secure hanging up side down from the body champ. I'm sure that the more expensive units are worth it but for $99 I have no regrets.
