Pros: quiet, easy installation, cleans well, dries plastic fine
Cons: racks don't hold quite as much, long cycle time, need to buy drying agent
The Bottom Line: quiet, with euro good looks.
I'd buy this again - no remorse!

| aishizaki's Full Review: Bosch SHE44C02UC / SHE44C06UC / SHE44C07UC 24 in. ... |
this dishwasher was to replace a broken Asko (~14 yrs old),
so I didn't want to spend too long trying to get the best
deal. I read the Consumer Reports (which highly recommends
the dishwasher that this model replaces) and decided to go
with this Bosch since it's supposed to be very quiet and the
price was under $600. I read reviews online. I was
concerned about the "wet plastic" problem described in
another review.
I am very happy with my purchase (so far), having only used
the dishwasher twice. The dishwasher is much quieter than
the Asko it replaced, though it certainly isn't so quiet
that you need a light to show it's on (I guess the more
expensive boschs come with that feature)! The plastics
are as dry as I would expect (surfaces that pool water
still pool water) and as dry as they got with my old Asko
(which had a heating element). I am using a drying agent
(Cascade brand) as recommended. On the other hand, the
insides of a plastic water bottle was dry this morning,
which never happened with the Asko (top rack was almost
exclusively plastic stuff)
On the bad side, I don't think I can put as many plates
in this dw as the old one. I'm still getting used to the
top rack, but I like that I can adjust the top rack -
I'm able to put taller things in the top rack than I could
with the old dw.
Also, I've noticed that light things (e.g. plastic bowls,
wooden chopsticks) aren't turned upside down (and
subsequently filled with water) or tossed out of the
silverware rack as often was the case with the older dw.
I like that it tells me how many minutes are left in the
cycle, I wish current dishwashers didn't have such a long
cycle!
I have noticed a very slight "burning" smell towards the
end of the cycle - will call the installer later today!
I actually like the silverware rack - about the same size
as my old dw's. The rack has a grid that allows a separate
entry point for each item of flatware, so there's no
"nesting". It can either be up/down (not used/used), so
I use it on one side for the silverware, and the other
side up to put larger items.
I was surprised to be able to buy a Bosch for under $600.
I don't know how the American brands that are about
the same price compare. This dishwasher seems much nicer
than the Asko it replaced, which cost closer to $1000
14 years ago!
