| allenn22's Full Review: Bowflex Power Pro XTL |
I purchased a Power Pro XTL about 3 months ago. And do I have to say, "I really didn’t want to pony up the funds to spend on something I thought would just sit in the basement." When I did finally make the call to purchase it, I was very shocked. It was at my doorstep in 2 days! And I live in Anchorage Alaska!! Now I no longer have to go to the gym...and I don’t have to pay gym fees, which prolonged the purchase further.
When I opened the boxes, it was kind of overwhelming to see all of the different things that I had to put together to get it like you see in the adds. After all was said and done, it was about 3.5 hours later and I couldn’t wait until I was able to finally see what this thing was going to do. The following morning I got all dressed up to sweat and I tell you what! The power rods are exactly what they say they are. Nothing but pure power will move those things. It came with the standard assortment of power rods and for those that are not going to the gym 7 days a week are not going to need more for some time to come. The 50lbs rod was left for the leg exercise only!!
It's been 3 months and I do have to say that I am very happy with what I have seen happen to my waistline and overall shape. Although my over all weight has gone up, my waist and gut have gone down. I have become more defined all over, esp. in the arms, abs and in my chest. This is a strength-training machine, no doubt. You can get a bit of aerobic workout of it, yet for me I prefer to run or swim. Sidewalks are cheap.
You will loose weight if you follow their "weight loss plan." There is no way that you wouldn’t. You essentially cut your diet to nothing, and do serious calorie counting.
As for the different models, I would suggest spending more and getting the power pro models. The warranties are better and the construction in by far superior. I’m sure that the motivator models are well designed, but you can just flat out do more exercises worth the upper end ones.
Remember...this will not do it FOR YOU, you need to eat better and stick to a routine. The bow flex is just a machine that will allow YOU to sculpt your body to where you always dreamed it to be. Just remember, nothing happens over night so don’t get feeling down a week into it if you see no results. Give it some time and have fun. Because remember, it's you that will benefit in the long run.
Well it is now Jan 09 2002, and I have been using the bow flex for some time now and I do have to say, I am feeling better and looking that way as well. I don’t look like Randy, the super buff guy that is on the videos that is trying to sell you the machine, yet you can tell that I am looking a lot more defined than before. Those guys do nothing but stay hours in the gym and get paid for it. The rest of us in the real working world don’t have that kind of time. As for the progress, I can say that with the CONSTANT, read that again, CONSTANT use of this machine, you will see changes. In the time that I have been using it, I have noticed that I do need to start some type of cardio workout into my routine. This machine is a strength training only. I cant change between sets fast enough to get my heart rate up fast enough so that it is productive.
The machine is holding up really well, and I’m not dissatisfied at all with the performance of the machine. It is still holding up and just needed the bolts on it tightened a bit the other day.
Well, it's off to the grind again, so I’m off to go try to get BUFF!! IF you like, E-mail me with your success stories, I know that I cant be the only on that has seen great results with this machine.

UPDATE: I’ve been getting a lot of requests to try to describe what the machine looks like and to try to describe the feel of the unit as well. As much as I can try, I came up with a really great idea that you can try in your hometowns. I called Bow Flex, and was told that there are a number of gyms that are purchasing the equipment and installing them for the customers to use them for working out.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you try to call all the local gyms to see if they in fact have one there for you to look at.
This is a HUGE amount of money that you are about to spend, and please don’t solely rely on my opinion, as much as I’d like you too, you are the ones that are going to have to be happy with the purchase and the final product.
