After studying the different machines Bowflex makes, I finally decided on the Ultimate for its higher quality and the fact that it includes the pull-down accessory and the leg exercise accessory.
First, if you have any thoughts you might want to return the equipment after your trial period, you may want to consider finding someone who has one so you can try it. It is very tightly packaged in several boxes, and any attempt to repack it will take more time than it takes to put it together, not to mention the cost of returning it.
TOTAL BUILD TIME: 3 hours
The instructions were fairly straight forward. The screws, nuts and bolts were well labeled and each piece fit together nicely.
WORKING OUT
The resistance is very smooth and well balanced. I'm not sure anyone but the most advanced body-builder would ever require the extra 100 pound addition. There are many exercises for every muscle from head-to-toe; you are bound to find one you enjoy for building or reduction. The way the resistance works does require a little getting used to. You have to use a few extra little muscles to stabilize the grips, which gives you a better over-all workout.
SPACE REQUIREMENTS
Though it is wide, the overall space required isn't that bad. The unit folds in half nicely and rolls around on its own wheels. To prevent a closed in feeling while working out, I do suggest you have at least a clear 10 square feet, if not more.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
I am very happy with the machine after 4 months. I have had friends over to try it and some in the fitness industry who just love the machine. If you are serious about working out, get one, you'll love it.
