Pros: Plenty to do at the resort.
Cons: The food was so-so.
The Bottom Line: Give this place a try. You won't be dissapointed.

We visited Breezes Runaway Bay from Sept. 20-24, 2004. It was great.
When we arrived in Montego Bay my wife and I were a little nervous. The arrivals area of the airport is unkept and dingy. We made our way to the Breezes Desk and gave them our name. They seemed a little disorganized but it wasn't much of a problem. A bell hop loaded our bags and other guests onto his cart and took us out to the bus area. During the 2 minute walk I was asked if I wanted to buy ganga (pot) 3 times. I was told before the trip that I was probably going to be asked but I didn't expect it to be this frequently. They loaded us on the bus in a very disorganized manner and I was even asked by the driver if I wanted pot.
Everything after that was great. The approximately 1hour 45 minute bus ride was long but you got to see both the countryside and the cities along the North Coast. We arrived at Breezes and were greeted very warmly. We checked in without a problem and went to grab our luggage when we were told that They would bring it up for us. 2 munites after we entered our room the bellhop was there with our luggage.
We got changed and took a walk around the resort. The grounds were very well kept even though we were there 1 week after Hurricane Ivan slammed into the island. We made our way to the bar adjacent to the beach and had a couple of Drinks. I had a Red Stripe beer (Only type of beer they have) and my wife had a frozen drink. She recommends having the Purple Rain, Cool Runnings and the Dirty Banana. Some of the reviews said the bar service was slow but they couldn't be further from the truth. We would have new drinks waiting for us by the time we were half way finished with the previous ones.
The food at the resort was the only thing that could been better. The breakfast and dinner buffet offered a lot of choices but didn't taste all that great. The food could have been a little hotter and cooked a little longer. The food at Martino's resturaunt was good but the portions were small.
One of the reasons that we chose Breezes Runaway Bay was for the golf. Both my wife and I are beginners and we wanted to take advantage of the golf school. We couldn't have made a better decision. The golf Pro, Ian Melville, was an absolutely amazing instructor. He spent 3 hours teaching us all of the basics and at the end of the first day my wife and I clearly noticed an improvement. Ian is a great instructor who knows what he is doing. I would even recommed seasoned golfers spend a few hours with him. He'll make your game better. We wen't back another day for more instruction and it was just as benificial as the first. After the instruction, we decided to play 9 holes. The course was well kept and the mandatory caddy was helpful.
The rooms were sufficient for what they were used for, to sleep. I have a quirk about not wanting anyone in my room when we are not there so I left the "Do Not Disturb" sing on the door all week. The maids respected our wishes and left a shopping bag full of fresh towels and soaps hanging from our door every night. The wake up calls were prompt and the showers always had hot water.
There were many activities to do througout the day and the organizers always tried to get everyone involved. They hade Toga and pajama parties, ring toss, bingo, drinking games and many more. There was a trapeze right on the beach. I didn't use it though (don't like heights). The beach was immaculate and the water was warm. You could stand up to your chest and still see your feet. I went snorkeling using the free equipment that they provide. You can also take boat trips, scuba dive, paddle boat and canoe. All of this is inclusive.
We even had the chance to visit the nurse while we were there. I didn't catch her name (the younger one of the 2 nurses) but she was very helpful. My wife had an ear infection when we cam down but it seemed to get worse when we got there. She said that my wife should see the doctor because it is dangerous to fly with an ear infection. The doctor actually makes house calls to the resort. The doctor came out (even after getting into a car accident earlier that day) and evaluated my wife. He was more thorough than most US doctors and prescribed her a few different medications which he had with him. We didn't even have to leave the resort to fill them. The visit cost $100 and the medication $60. The medication he prescribed is the same you would get here in the US but would cost you a heck of a lot more.
Odds and ends: The pool was big and clean, the slot machines didn't seem to pay off much, and things come alot faster if you "show your appreciation".
